I think we've got a winner! After a couple of postponements, the Great Des Moines Hot Air Balloon Hunt should be on in Downtown Des Moines this Saturday night, February 27th between 6:30pm and 8. The balloon glow is sponsored by the Downtown Des Moines Partnership and had been scheduled a couple of times in the past month, but was postponed due to weather.
To find the balloons on Saturday night, make sure you are following the Downtown Des Moines Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @DowntownDSMUSA for clues as to where the balloons will glow. Last time, they were glowing near the Capitol and the Science Center. The event will be postponed again if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Once you find the balloons, you are encouraged to take pictures and post on social media using hashtag #downtownDSM. The balloons will be glowing in retail areas and areas near restaurants where you are encouraged to shop and/or do some takeout for dinner.
