Ames Lemonade Stand Turns A Crime Into Something That Will Benefit Kids

Go get some lemonade right now!!! Nine year old twins Elias and Katelyn set up their lemonade stand on Monday. They had wanted to have a lemonade stand all Summer. They didn't price their lemonade, they, simply, asked for donations. All was well until a woman stole all of their donations. The kids were, understandably, upset. Their mom called the police. And then... first responders kept showing up all afternoon to drink their lemonade and put tips in their jar. They decided that they would donate all of the more than $2,400 to Shop With A Cop. This is a program that sets kids up with police officers to do holiday shopping for underpivilieged children.

The kids have decided to continue to raise money for Shop With A Cop. The lemonade stand has resumed at East 13th Street and Meadowlane Avenue starting at 1pm today, Wednesday, August 4. You can Venmo tips to @karen-smidt-1.
