We had a lot of excitement back in May with the opening of the Lauridsen Skate Park and the Dew Tour Olympic Qualifying Event in May. Get ready for that skateboarding excitement to take over the city again. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, the Des Moines Streetstyle Open will showcase world class skateboarding talent all over Des Moines.
The Streetstyle Open kicks off at Subsect on Locust in East Village at 4pm. Skaters will be welcomed to town with a freestyle jam and then contest at 6pm, judged by Des Moines resident and skateboard legend Mike Vallely.
On Friday, the actionbegins at the Iowa State Capitol at 11am. The event moves to West Des Moines at Railroad Park and then a community skate to Legion Skatepark.
Saturday, the Des Moines Streetstyle Open, wraps up at the Lauridsen Skate Park for major competitions.
