Elton John Pays Tribute to Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins At Des Moines Show

Elton John's stop on his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour hit Des Moines' Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday night. The stop was one day following Elton's momentous 75th birthday. Elton took some time to explain to his audience how great it was to have received so many well wishes. However, the warm feelings turned colder when he woke up on Saturday morning to news of the death of Foo Fighters' drummer Taylor Hawkins at the age of 50.

Elton John went on to relay to the nearly sold out crowd that Taylor was a good friend and recent collaborator. John dedicated "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" to the memory of Taylor Hawkins and to his survivors.
