Motivation Monday Minute: How To Get Motivated To Exercise

We all know we should workout as regularly as possible. The recommended minimum for exercise is 30 minutes per day five days a week (150 minutes). But. It can be really hard to get motivated to workout!

Here are some expert tips on how to get motivated to routinely workout!

  • Listen to some energizing music BEFORE you workout. Our brains are trained to want to be in relax mode, great upbeat energizing music (like the music you hear on 107.5 KISS FM) gets you in the ZONE! I always crank the music up on my way to the gym while drinking my iced coffee mixed with a protein shake! It does the trick.
  • Do you suffer from anxiety? Experts suggest trying a workout where you go for a moderate walk and finish with some sprints. The sprints will put your body in an elevated heart rate state such as when you feel anxious. It trains your body to feel like you're in a safe space when your heart rate elevates, that can minimize anxiety.
  • Find what you like. If you like nature, make it a point to walk a trail (mix it up!), if you like biking, find the best bike paths, dancing, come to Zumba or Cardio Dance with me! If it feels more like play and relaxation than work, you're going to be more likely to do it!
