Rare Coins Found In Local Salvation Army Red Kettles

I love the anonymous donors that come out these time of the year! Fortunately, without fail, people do good things this time of the year. The Salvation Army bell ringers rain or shine, cold or not so cold, stand outside for hours to raise money for the work the Salvation Army does in the community throughout the year.

This year, a gold coin from Australia was found in a red kettle at the Hy-Vee on 86th Street. It's estimated to be worth about $2,000. Another rare coin from Canada, suspected to be from the same donor was found in a kettle in West Des Moines.

Keep doing good!
