KPop Demon Hunters not only walked away from the 2026 Oscars with multiple wins, but a performance of the movie's song "Golden" also brought the house down at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
EJAE, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna let their light shine on the stage at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday (March 15) as they performed a shortened version of the film's massive hit "Golden." The HUNTR/X trio even enlisted the the help of the crowd to keep the energy high, who were given light wands to wave throughout the performance as an homage to K-pop performances, Billboard notes.
The performance also featured a celebration of Korean culture and folklore that was teased before the show, per Variety, kicking off with a fusion of traditional instrumentalists and dance before the group hit the stage, surrounded by backup dancers waving flags.
The track also won the Oscar for Best Original Song, becoming the first K-pop song to ever win in the category and leading to an emotional speech from EJAE, who also co-wrote the song.
"Growing up, people made fun of me for like K-pop, but now everyone is singing our song and all the Korean lyrics," she said. "I'm so proud. I realize the song, this award is not about success. It's about resilience."
