A Florida woman has filed a five million dollar class action lawsuit against Heinz over what she says is a false claim for how long it takes to make Velveeta Shells & Cheese in their single use cups. The directions say it will take you 3 and a half minutes to make Velveeta Shells & Cheese. The woman claims that it takes 3 1/2 minutes in the microwave to cook, but you have to let it sit to thicken after it gets out of the microwave, therefore, it takes longer than 3 1/2 minutes to make! Plus, it takes time to add water and the sauce packet.
The woman's lawyers are arguing that the single use product is being marketed as quick way to make a meal and the Heinz company charges a premium for this misleading claim. They're arguing that the woman is trying to stretch her dollar as far as possible and paid a premium for something that is misleading.
