Delta Supposedly Offered Passengers $10k Each To Give Up Their Seats!

What amount would you take if an airline offered you money to give up your seat due to an overbooked flight? According to Complex, passengers recently said that Delta airlines offered them $10,000 EACH to give up their seat. $10K!

This incident reportedly happened last week as travelers waited at Michigan's Gerald R. Ford International Airport. Jason Aten was aboard the flight and tweeted that a crew member announced they needed 8 people to willingly give up their seats on the overbooked flight in exchange for cash.

“Yes, $10,000 is a lot of money, but it was clearly better than forcing eight people to miss their connections and ruining their plans,” he wrote. “The people who volunteered did the math and decided that it was worth it to change their plans because, obviously, that is a lot of money.”

Another passenger by the name of Todd McCrumb chimed in on Aten's tweet saying that he was tempted to take the offer but his wife wasn't having it. He had also shared that the airline at first offered $5,000 and then eventually increased it to $7,500 and finally $10,000. McCrumb said that he saw about four people take the offer and the airline was even offering to do it via Apple Pay or with a Visa gift card.
