Selena Quintanilla-Perez died at the age of 23 in 1995. Following her death, she has continued to be a Mexican and American icon. A movie about her life, Selena, in 1997 started a huge career for Jennifer Lopez, who portrayed her in the film.
Since her death twenty-three years ago, there have been books, album releases, DVDs, a M. A. C. make up line, apparel, theatrical productions and almost a holograph tour paying tribute to her.
The latest project in the works is a Netflix series. Selena: The two-part limited series is described as following the singer as she "makes tough decisions to hold on to family, true love, and music." Her sister Suzette says, "the family is excited to partner with Netflix to give fans a never-before-seen glimpse at our story and highlight why Selena will remain a legend for generations to come."
Selena is my hero and has been since her death in 1995. I always think about how much life she packed into twenty three short years and how much of a legacy that dedication, kindness and talent has created. I'm so excited for this!!!
