In the circus that is Jussie Smollett, Fox just announced that they are bringing Empire back for Season 6, but not the character that Jussie played, Jamal Lyon. They announced that they've negotiated with him, so it sounds as if he's still under contract with the show. It's possible that Fox is going to see how the lawsuit the City of Chicago has filed against Jussie goes before they decide if they want to bring him back. The City of Chicago is suing him for the costs they incurred for investigating an alleged hate crime against him.
In any case, the future doesn't seem so bright for Jussie Smollett.
