I've discussed this before, but i'm obsessed with the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez. She died in 1995 after being shot by her Fan Club President right as she was on the brink of crossing over into the English language market. She was working on her English language debut album that would have catapulted her to mega superstardom. In Spanish speaking countries, she was already a superstar.
Next year marks 25 years since her passing. Since she's passed, she's broken records with album sales, launched a MAC make up collection, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, had a movie made about her life, there is a Netflix TV show inspired by her in the works, I could go on and on. There is a new fashion collection at Forever 21 inspired by Selena. Her legacy is huge and lives on.
