Yes!!! We are one step closer to that dream gadget that will prevent us from drunk texting or drunk dialing!!!! Researchers have unveiled the results of a study they have done measuring drinking and phones. Researchers gave participants drinks for seven hours. Each hour, participants were asked to walk with their phones strapped on their backs. 90% of the time, the smart phones were able to detect if the participant had too much to drink.
More research will need to be done with participants holding their phones or having their phone in their pocket to solidify if this is something viable. This could eventually be a great tool to cut down on drunk driving. It could even be used for that dream app that would shut off texting or calling when we've had too much to drink!
