Iowa Boy Makes Baseball Bat Out of Derecho Debris

12 year old Tommy from Mount Vernon, Iowa has a very special momento from last week's derecho that blew a path of destruction through Iowa and beyond. Tommy was helping his dad clean up debris when he came upon a log that seemed about the perfect size of a baseball bat. He spent the next few days whittling the wood into the shape of a baseball bat, he sanded and stained it, with a little help from dad. And poof - he had a usable memory from the storm. He even branded the bat The Great 2020 Derecho. Now, go play ball, Tommy!
