Every year, the list of America's favorite Thanksgiving side dishes is revealed state by state. Of course, Iowa's favorite Thanksgiving side dish has been determined to be corn. Is that really true? It sounds like some stereotyping. Don't we get enough sweet corn over the Summer?
I grew up in Illinois and lived in Missouri for 15 years. I can tell you that i've never had corn as a side dish on Thanksgiving. Speaking of our neighbors, Illinois' favorite Thanksgiving side dish is mashed potatoes. I know that's true! Missouri's favorite side dish is...rolls! Boring! In Nebraska, there it is, they love their green bean casserole. I would have pegged Iowa for that. Minnesota and Wisconsin favor mashed potatoes, too.
