It's been rough on all of us, but exceptionally rough on women named Karen. I'm unsure of the origin, but "Karen" is slang for "Middle-aged blonde woman who complains to management when HER life is inconvenienced." I'm sure most women named Karen are amazing people, but in 2020, the name has become unfortunate. A woman named Caren Robinson of Grand Rapids, Michigan has started a Facebook support group to empower Karens or Carens or Caryns.
The group is called "Karens For the Community" and seeks to empower and unite women to incite compassion for one another despite their name. I mean, give it time, in 20 years, Mikayla will be asking for the manager. Maybe Brittany? Madison?
