Well, it's safe to say Iowans (and our neighbors) drank our way through the Pandemic. A list of the drunkest states in the country has been released and Iowa and almost all of its neighbors made up the top five! Iowa is the third drunkest state in the country followed by Nebraska, Minnesota and Illinois. Look at us leading the way for our neighbors. The drunkest state is, also, nearby, it's Wisconsin. Sounds like those just "flying over" this part of the country are missing a good party!
The least drunk state is Utah. The survey measured the percentage of adults who drink excessively, the percentage of alcohol related traffic deaths, and the percentage of health issues due to drinking among adult residents of the state. We really shouldn't be proud of this. I am surprised. I moved here from St. Louis and i've never seen such a party. St. Louis' Mardi Gras is the second biggest in the country, the St. Louis Cardinals opening day is almost a state holiday, St. Patrick's Day and Cinco De Mayo are all celebrated heartily. Oh, and Anheuseur Busch is headquartered in St. Louis.
In all seriousness, this list is nothing to celebrate. Drinking to excess takes the fun out of the party. Be safe.
