But first, next year, there will be a new reason to visit Pella, a Smash Park will be built in Pella. Following the new Pella location, the franchise will expand to Omaha, Minneapolis, Phoenix and Salt Lake City! If you haven't been to Smash Park in West Des Moines, it's a playground for bocce ball, pickle ball, shuffleboard, board games, a restaurant and a bar.
Des Moines is becoming quite the prototype when it comes to playing games. Up/Down began in Des Moines and has since expanded to other cities like Minneapolis and St. Louis. Funny story, a friend from St. Louis called me a couple weeks ago and said, "The next time you come to town, we have to hang out at this really cool new place I went to last night!" I asked what it was called. He said, "Up/Down! It's so cool, it's got all these old arcade games." I was like, "Boy, please, I can walk to Up/Down right now!" I'm glad the rest of the world is finally getting hip to our stuff!
