I hope you had an awesome Mother's Day and were treated extra special if you're a mom! I hope the day was special for all involved. If the day is difficult for you, I hope that you found some peace and solace.
My Step-Father and I collaborated to pull off a surprise for my mom. He called me on Thursday and said he would pick me up from the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport if I would fly in for the weekend to spend Mother's Day with my mom. Working all week and the fact she lives ten hours away makes it difficult to make a trip to see mom. We were able to find an early morning direct flight from Des Moines on Saturday morning and a Sunday night flight back, so we booked it and let the surprise begin!!! She was surprised. We went for Mother/Daughter pedicures, had dinner at the legendary Joe T. Garcia's in Fort Worth, saw other family in the area, had lunch with my mom and her best friend, and even took a dip in the pool. Oh, on Saturday night, my mom got in a hot tub for the very first time in her entire life!!!! We packed a lot of moments into about 32 hours!!!! It's important to make time to spend with loved ones while we can. I think COVID taught us all that life is fleeting and you never know what curve balls can come our way to drastically change our lives.
