Bummed because you don't have a boo? Your boo thang could be as close are someone in your friend circle. A new survey finds that 68% of people in relationships started out as friends first. For 20-somethings and the LGBTQIA+ community, the stats are even higher!
The study found that on average it took 22 months for a friendship to turn into a romantic relationship.
So the next time you're "friend zoned," could that really be code for "so, you're telling me there's still a chance?" Ummm. . . maybe don't count on that. The study did say there is a blurry line between friendship and romance. Some people in the study characterized even having sex as a "friendship" activity and not linked, necessarily, to a romantic relationship.
