Monday Motivation Minute: The 5 Minute Rule To Combat Procrastination

Where my procrastinators at? If you're like me, a very long to-do list can lead to overwhelming stress which can lead to just shutting down. Let's stop this.

Experts say if you find yourself so overwhelmed, you just want to give up because there aren't possibly enough hours in the day to complete the list, try the five minute rule.

Grab your phone. Set a timer for 5 minutes and just start working. Chances are, when the five minutes is up, you'll be so engrossed in work that you won't want to stop and you'll be on your way to slaying your long to-do list. Whenever you find yourself giving up, get the timer out and start again.... just five minutes. Five minutes isn't overwhelming.

A lot of times, in order for me to get house work done, I have to do the same thing. I look at my clock and say, just keep cleaning for 15 minutes. Sometimes, you can surprise yourself with what you can accomplish around the house in just 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, let yourself have a break, or if you're really feeling it, keep going for another 15 minutes.

The idea is bite size work chunks so that the tasks at hand don't seem so overwhelming.
