40% of Millennials and Gen Zers Spend Money On Their Pets For Social Media

A new study by Lending Tree finds that 28% of pet owners spend money buying their pets stuff for social media posts. Yeah, that Christmas sweater, you didn't buy that for your dog just because you want to see him looking cute in it, there was some social media post in the thought process, right? It's perfectly fine because who doesn't love to see a doggie dressed up as Batman for Halloween?!

As expected, the statistics go up for Millennials and Gen Zers. 40% of Millennials and Gen Zers buy stuff for their pets for social media.

Pet owners spend an average of $1,163 per year for props and stuff for their pets for social media posts. I suppose i'm lucky that my cat, Louie, just glares at me and says, "I dare you to put those reindeer ears on me."

We love our pets so much that nearly 8% of us are in debt related to pet expenses.
