Keep this goal in mind, if you fully unplug over the holidays, you're going to be more productive when you get back at it in 2022. Easier said than done, right?
Here are a few tips to help you unplug from work (if you can) over the holidays...
- Turn off notifications. There is nothing that prevents relaxation more than the ding of the email coming in on your phone. Your mind goes from relaxed to stressed with the sound of the tone. Turn off your email notifications, even text, if necessary, to help you better relax.
- Do something you enjoy. And don't bring your phone. Take a Zumba or yoga class, bake cookies with your kids, put your phone away. Just focus on the tasks at hand. It will do wonders for your soul.
- Delegate. Prior to taking time off, delegate the responsibilities while you are gone. If multiple people are off at the same time, make an "on-call" schedule," so that when you're off, you're off with peace of mind knowning someone else will cover anything that arises.
- Enjoy your people. Enough said.
