Researchers have studied areas of the world where people are living into their 90s and 100s. They have looked at pockets of elderly populations in Japan, Costa Rica, Greece, Italy and parts of the United States of America. What they have found is that the secret to a long life it: the ability to manage stress well, having a purpose, frequent communication with friends, family and community members and movement. When it comes to diet, researchers found that the key to longevity seems to be a diet that is 85% plant based. This can be a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and beans.
