Over the weekend, there was a giant call for prayers for the co-founder of Des Moines' non profit Hip Hope, Bo James. He suffered a massive heart attack while shoveling snow on Saturday. He's recovering right now. Hip Hope immediately put out a call for snow blowers and young volunteers to help shovel snow for those in need. It is recommended that no one over 55 shovel snow and people with heart disease and hypertension should, also, not shovel.
MLK Day was Monday and it is widely used as a day of service. As such, another Des Moines non-profit, Urban Dreams called on their young volunteers to shovel snow for those who were not safely able to do so.
Just as the world received inspiration from MLK, I hope that you've receive inspiration from your neighbors in Central Iowa.
