Prayers are going out to the seven victims of the Iowa tornadoes that happened on Saturday. Governor Reynolds gave a tearful press conference on Sunday afternoon and remarked how Iowa is coming together to help one another. In Winterset, an EF-3 tornado touched down about 4:15pm Saturday afternoon. Six people were killed, including two young children.
About 300 volunteers showed up at daybreak to assist in rescue and recovery effors Sunday morning. If you would like to assist victims of the tornado in Winterset, there is a Madison County Disaster Relief Fund where you can donate.
The Red Cross is assisting victims of the tornado, too, and they will, also, accept donations.
After hitting Winterset, the tornado continued and destroyed five homes in Pleasant Hill and caused damage in Norwalk and on the southside of Des Moines.
