Hi. My name is Taylor J. and i'm an addict... addicted to sugar. Or I was. It still haunts me. It's a terrible addiction. This is a tough week for we sugar addicts with all that leftover Halloween candy!
Here are some expert tips that I co-sign for to help battle a sugar addiction. I have lost 86 pounds in the past 14 months and I did it by battling my addiction.
Here are the tips:
- Don't let yourself get hungry. Eat. Calories. Good calories. Whole foods. When we get hungry, it's very easy to crave and run toward sugar.
- Fill up on protein and veggies. The fiber will fill you up and lessen cravings for sugar. I can fully attest to this.
- Chug water. You can chug a shot, chug water, it will make you full quickly when cravings come on.
- Read ingredients. Beware of foods that don't put the word "sugar" in the label. A lot of things are sugar in disguise like "fructose" and "dextrose." Sugar leads to cravings for more sugar.
- Eat naturally sweet food. Get your craving for sweet taken care of through apples and cashews and other naturally sweet foods.
- Trade spice for sugar. Experiment with ingredients to give your food flavor - spices. Cinnamon and nutmeg are great additions to food that are good for you!
- Run (or walk) from sugar. When the cravings are getting the best of you, go for a quick walk, that will curb your craving.
- Quit the salt. Cravings for salt lead to cravings for sweet. Eat clean. Eat naturally salty foods like olives. That will help lessen the cravings for sugar!
