A 90 year old woman graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb yesterday. Joyce DeFauw began her collegiate career in 1951 at Northern Illinois State Teachers College. Then, she met a man, married and had 9 kids. All through life, she's mentioned she wanted to finish her degree. Her children all encouraged her. But, she said, she didn't have a computer. They bought her a computer. Through online classes she took at the retirement community she lives, she completed her degree. She said there were times she wanted to quit, but she told herself not to and she did it!
"There's so much to learn, and life is so exciting, and we're all given different talents. We're all here for a reason. And so just keep going," says Joyce DeFauw. Hopefully that's inspiration you can use.
